Documents required for Indian Passport

After submitting the Online Form for Passport Application and booking your appointment you will have to get ready with documents required for Indian Passport to be presented to the Passport Seva Kendra Office on the appointment day with the Application Reference Number (ARN)/Appointment Number Receipt. So below are the list of documents required for Indian Passport.

Documents required for Indian Passport

Fresh Passport:
  • Proof of Address (POA)

    Ration Card, Water Bill, Telephone Bill, Postpaid Mobile Bill, Electricity Bill, Bank Account Statement, Income Tax Assessment Order, Election Commission ID Card or Voters ID, Gas Connection Book, Aadhaar Card, Spouse Passport Copy, Parents Passport Copy in case of Minors, Certificate from Employer of reputed Firm on letter head
  • Proof of Date of Birth (DOB)Birth certificate issued by a Municipal Authority
  • Residence Certificate
(You will have to attach two photo copies of above documents)

While going for the appointment on the appointment day you will have to take two photo copies of documents required for Indian Passport with original. 

Reissue of a Passport:
  • Original Old Passport with self-attested photocopies of first four and last four passport pages including ECR/ECNR Page.
  • If Applicable Documents mentioned in (A) (4)
  • If Old Passport don’t have ECNR Stamp or applied passport when minor you will have to produce documents mentioned in (A) (5)
  • If change in address produce document mentioned in A(1)
  • If old passport don’t contain spouse name enclose copy of marriage certificate issued by Registrar of Marriage.
