Indian Passport Renewal

A normal validity of an Indian Passport is 10 years from the date of issuance. When you issue a new passport your old passport will get cancelled but the visas which are valid in the old passport will not get cancelled and the valid visas in old passport can be used till the expiry date.

Documents required for Indian Passport Renewal:

  • Original Old Passport with self-attested photocopy of first four and last four pages.
  • Proof of Present Address like Water Bill, Electricity Bill, Aadhaar Card, Ration Card etc. (you will have to provide proof of address documents only in case when you want to change the Address)

Steps to get Indian Passport Renewed:
  • Go to official website passportindia.gov.in
  • Download the e-Form
  • Fill the download e-form and then click on Validate and save button, after you done clicking the button it will generate a XML file which you will require later to upload.
  • Register an account in Passport Seva website, if you already have an account in Passport Seva website than you login and then upload the XML file which you have generated after filling the Passport e-Form by clicking on Upload e-Form.
  • And then click on Manage Appointment and view saved page to schedule an appointment at your Passport Seva Kendra in your area.
  • Than print the application receipt which will contain Application Reference Number (ARN) or Appointment Number.
  • Next you will have to visit the Passport Seva Kendra Office on which day you have got the appointment with your original documents.
