How to Apply for an Indian Passport?

Applying for Indian Passport have now become an easy task, there are no much hectic troubles involved in applying for a new Indian Passport. Below are quick steps which will help you to apply for an Indian Passport.

How to Apply for an Indian Passport?

Go to Passport India and register an account, fill out the registration form carefully by filling correct details.

After successfully creating an account, just login with registered login id and password.

You will be redirected to Applicant Home with following options such as 
  • Apply for Fresh Passport/Re-issue of Passport
  • Apply for Police Clearance Certificate
  • Apply for Diplomatic/Official Passport
  • Apply for Identity Certificate
  • Apply for Surrender Certificate
  • View Saved/Submitted Applications
To apply for Fresh Passport you will have to click on the first option that is “Apply for Fresh Passport/Re-issue of Passport”

And then you will be redirected to the page where to fill and submit the Passport Application two methods will be mentioned, the first method will be Offline Passport Application and the second method will be Online Passport Application. You can opt for any one of these methods if you Internet Connection Speed is good than you can select the second method that is Online and if you Internet Connection Speed is very slow it is better to go for the first method that is Offline.

Apply for fresh Indian Passport

First Method: In the first method you will have to download the application form and fill it offline on your computer and save it, than upload it. After downloading it open the form and fill out the all details which is asked to fill in the form which you have downloaded. Second Method: Second Method allows you to fill the form Online.

Use any one of these method and submit the details.

After you successfully finish submitting the form, you will have to click on “Pay and Schedule Appointment”.

You can make Online Payment through Credit Card, Debit Card, Internet Banking, or by State Bank of India Challan.


After the payment is made, just print out the receipt on which Application Reference Number (ARN)/Appointment Number will be enclosed.


Next you will have to visit the Passport Seva Kendra with your original documents as well as photocopies on the appointment day.
